Bespoke care
A healthy pregnancy and the delivery of safe clinical care form the foundation of our pregnancy packages. While most women will follow our standard care schedule, we prioritise a personalised approach, tailoring our care to meet your specific needs. Our comprehensive packages are designed to guide you safely through your pregnancy, birth, and up to six weeks postpartum.
During your appointments, you’ll have ample opportunity to discuss your needs and concerns, allowing us to collaboratively plan your ongoing care. Mr Shah will personally conduct all your appointments, including any emergency visits, ensuring continuity of care. On the rare occasion that Mr Shah is handling an urgent matter, one of his trusted colleagues may assist you.
Please note that ultrasound scans and routine blood and urine tests are not included in the obstetric package and will be billed separately by the hospital or ultrasound clinic.
Pregnancy packages include:
All antenatal consultations
Birth and your 1, and 6-week postnatal check
Any mode of delivery: Vaginal birth, assisted vaginal delivery, caesarean section
Midwifery Appointments
All patients will have regular reviews with their obstetrician. However, we recommend that all patients receive one midwifery appointment. This will usually be early in pregnancy but ideally around 22-34 weeks of gestation. This can be arranged by contacting the Kensington Wing on 0203 315 8616 or by emailing chelwest.kensington@nhs.net.
Ultrasound Scans
All patients should have a 12 week dating and 20 week fetal anomaly ultrasound scan. For some patients we may also recommend additional scans. There are several providers of ultrasound and your obstetrician may recommend a clinic.
The Kensington Wing also have scan clinics that provide appointments. Details can be found here. Appointments can be arranged by contacting the Kensington Wing on 0203 315 8616 or by emailing chelwest.kensington@nhs.net.
Vaccination
We recommend routine and seasonal vaccines for all pregnant women. Vaccination can be arranged at your GP, local pharmacy or the NHS vaccine clinic in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. These include:
Whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine - given between 16 and 32 weeks of gestation.
Flu vaccine - available from September to the following February every autumn/winter. This can be taken at any time in pregnancy.
COVID-19 vaccine - available from September to the following February every autumn/winter to protect against emerging new viral strains. This can be taken at any time in pregnancy.
RSV vaccine - Recommended from 28 weeks of gestation or more. The vaccine can help protect babies for the first six months of their lives, when they are most likely to get seriously ill from RSV. The vaccine helps reduce the risk of serious RSV complications like pneumonia and bronchiolitis.
